Tulsa, OK – A line of severe thunderstorms is forecast to sweep through eastern Oklahoma and neighboring states, prompting a weather watch through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, Missouri, a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 11 a.m. CDT Friday, April 4, 2025, impacting parts of eastern Oklahoma, northwest Arkansas, and southern Missouri. Key cities under the watch include Tulsa, Muskogee, McAlester, Poteau, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Branson, and Springfield.

Threats include isolated wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail up to two inches in diameter, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. The NWS warns that storms may intensify rapidly and urges residents to remain alert to potential warnings.

Roughly 2.6 million people, over 1,000 schools, and 87 hospitals are within the watch zone. Emergency officials recommend securing outdoor objects, charging mobile devices, and monitoring local alerts. Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and remain cautious due to potential debris.

This weather pattern is not unusual for early April, but the storm’s intensity could pose risks across state lines. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as the system develops. Residents are advised to stay updated through local news or the NOAA Weather Radio.
