Oklahoma City, Okla. – Drivers across central Oklahoma should brace for a sweltering Friday, with storm chances returning just after noon. Afternoon plans and evening commutes on I-35 and I-44 could be impacted by sudden downpours or gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma City will climb to a high near 93°F on Friday with mostly sunny skies through early afternoon. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms begins after 1 p.m., with gusts up to 21 mph adding to the mix. While not all areas will see rain, isolated storms could bring lightning, brief heavy rain, and minor wind damage.

The more widespread threat arrives Saturday, with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms—mainly after 1 p.m. Residents should plan ahead for possible rain delays and be prepared to shelter during afternoon storms. By Saturday night, the risk continues with a 50% chance of storms and lows near 70°F.

Sunday will bring more heat, with a high of 87°F and continued afternoon storm chances at 40%. Most areas will stay dry, but quick-moving cells may still cause disruptions. The pattern lingers into early next week, with daily thunderstorm chances and highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
