Tulsa, Okla. – Drivers across southeastern Oklahoma may face reduced visibility through Sunday morning as patchy fog settles in, especially south of Interstate 40. Morning commuters and overnight travelers are urged to use caution, as fog pockets could quickly lower visibility to under half a mile.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the greatest impacts are expected between midnight and 9 a.m. Sunday in areas stretching from McAlester through Durant and into southeastern counties. Travel hazards include sudden drops in visibility, particularly on rural highways and low-lying areas.

Transportation officials recommend drivers slow down, keep headlights on low beam, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles. The fog is expected to dissipate after sunrise Sunday, allowing for improved travel conditions later in the day.

Residents planning early trips are advised to allow extra time and remain alert for shifting conditions. Additional advisories are possible if fog lingers longer than anticipated.
