TULSA, Okla. — A warm wind moves across Green Country this morning, carrying that faint dusty scent that often signals change. The sky will blaze clear again Friday, but the combination of gusty winds, dry fields, and near-record warmth could create limited fire risks before cooler, wetter air pushes back early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, Friday’s high could surge to around 80°F — nearly 20 degrees above average for mid-November. Winds from the south will strengthen through the day, gusting near 25 mph. That warmth and breeze, paired with very low humidity, has prompted a Fire Weather Danger statement for parts of eastern Oklahoma. While humidity should stay high enough to avoid widespread fire risk, residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, especially along and east of I-44.

Saturday stays breezy and warm, topping out near 82°F before cooler air begins filtering in Sunday. The weekend will stay dry and mostly sunny, perfect for travel, outdoor projects, or early Thanksgiving prep. But forecasters warn that the quiet pattern won’t last long — storm chances increase again by Tuesday and Wednesday as a new front develops across the Plains.

Next week looks more unsettled, with rain and thunder possible through midweek. Temperatures will dip slightly behind the front, marking a seasonal return as Oklahoma transitions from its brief November heatwave toward the colder days ahead.
