Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma is bracing for another bout of extreme heat this weekend as temperatures are expected to climb significantly across the state. After some morning showers and thunderstorms dissipate, a very humid air mass will settle over eastern Oklahoma, driving heat indices well above 105°F, with some areas potentially reaching up to 115°F.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for much of eastern Oklahoma, cautioning residents to take the necessary precautions if they plan to be outdoors. Temperatures in the afternoon are expected to soar above 110°F, particularly in areas like Tulsa, McAlester, and Muskogee. These dangerous heat levels, combined with high humidity, pose a significant risk for heat-related illnesses, especially for those engaging in outdoor activities.

The intense heat is forecasted to persist through the weekend, with slightly cooler but still hot conditions expected next week. Sunday’s high is forecasted to reach 97°F, followed by temperatures in the low 90s early next week. As the heat continues, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those without access to air conditioning.
