TULSA, Okla. – Strong southerly winds are already whipping across northeastern Oklahoma and into northwest Arkansas this Monday morning, setting up a blustery start to the week. Gusts up to 45 mph could rattle trees, make driving tough along I-44, and blow around unsecured objects through midday. Residents should secure outdoor items and use extra caution on bridges and overpasses where crosswinds may push vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Wind Advisory remains in effect for counties including Tulsa, Rogers, Craig, Ottawa, Washington, and Mayes until 1 p.m. CDT. Skies stay clear but conditions remain dry and gusty ahead of an approaching cold front. Behind that front, much calmer weather takes hold Tuesday and Wednesday with highs dropping into the 70s and lows dipping toward the mid-40s — a noticeable fall reset after Monday’s warmth near 85°F.

By late Thursday, another system arrives from the southern Plains, bringing a strong chance for thunderstorms and locally heavy rain. Some models even hint at the region’s first fall freeze next weekend as cooler Canadian air filters south. The National Weather Service notes that lows could flirt with the upper 30s by Sunday morning in rural valleys and low-lying areas.

Drivers, especially those along I-44 and U.S. 412, should stay alert for slick roads from late-week rain. For now, Tulsa enjoys a bright and breezy Monday, but the week trends cooler — and the first taste of early winter may not be far behind.
