Tulsa, Oklahoma – Flood risks and damaging storms could turn roads into rivers this weekend as 6 inches of rain barrels into northeast Oklahoma.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Flood Watch remains in effect from Friday evening through Sunday night for multiple counties including Tulsa, Rogers, and Washington. Rain totals between 2 to 6 inches are expected, raising the likelihood of flash flooding along I-44, local streams, and low-lying roads. High winds of up to 35 mph will add to the weekend’s hazards.

The most intense rain is expected Saturday and Saturday night, with thunderstorms likely to produce heavy downpours and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Residents should avoid low-lying routes and monitor alerts closely. Those in flood-prone areas are urged to have evacuation plans and keep emergency kits ready.

By Sunday, showers may ease slightly but thunderstorms will return Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds stay elevated throughout the week, which could down tree limbs and power lines. Flash flooding from repeated rainfall may remain a concern into midweek.
