Tulsa, OK – The National Weather Service in Tulsa is warning of increased fire weather concerns Monday, October 20, as windy and warm conditions develop ahead of a strong cold front.
According to the National Weather Service, gusty south to southwest winds and low humidity will create an elevated fire danger across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas on Monday afternoon. Areas most at risk include Tulsa, McAlester, Bartlesville, and Fort Smith, where dry vegetation and fast-moving grass fires are possible.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning or any activity that could spark a fire until conditions improve. The front is expected to move through late Monday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures by midweek.
After a dry stretch through Wednesday, rain chances increase Thursday and Friday, with potential for locally heavy rain into the weekend. Temperatures will fluctuate throughout the week, with highs ranging from the mid-70s early on to the 60s by late week.
