Tulsa, OK – Drivers across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas are waking up to hazardous conditions this Saturday morning as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
Visibility may drop to a quarter mile or less, particularly in areas near Tulsa, McAlester, Muskogee, and Fayetteville, where dense fog has settled in. The Weather Service also warns that temperatures near freezing in parts of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas could lead to isolated patches of freezing fog, creating slick spots on roads and bridges.
According to the advisory, motorists should expect rapid visibility changes, making driving especially dangerous on highways and rural roads. Officials recommend using low-beam headlights, reducing speed, and leaving extra distance between vehicles.
The fog is expected to gradually lift late Saturday morning as temperatures rise. Until then, forecasters urge residents to use caution when traveling and to stay alert for changing road conditions.
