Tulsa, OK – Freezing temperatures and dangerous wind chills as low as zero degrees are impacting residents near Tulsa this morning. The National Weather Service issued a cold weather advisory for the region, warning of frostbite risk in as little as 30 minutes.
According to the National Weather Service Tulsa Office, the advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. today, urging residents to cover exposed skin and avoid prolonged outdoor activities. Wind chills from zero to 5 degrees make it critical to dress in layers and take precautions if venturing outside.
Thursday’s Weather and Extended Outlook
Today’s high will reach 43°F with sunny skies, but winds up to 15 mph will keep conditions brisk. Tonight, expect clear skies with a low near 26°F. Thursday will bring sunshine and a high of 39°F, though gusts may reach 20 mph.
Temperatures will warm slightly by Saturday, with highs reaching 51°F under partly sunny skies. Nighttime lows, however, will remain in the 20s through much of the week, keeping frost a concern for early commuters.
Stay Prepared
Residents should take precautions to ensure pipes and pets are protected from the freezing conditions. Roads such as U.S. 75 and I-44 may see icy patches early, so motorists should allow extra time for travel.
