Tulsa, OK – Temperatures are climbing into the 90s today across eastern Oklahoma, setting up near-record heat and increasing fire danger heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, highs will reach around 93 degrees Friday, with temperatures rising to 94 degrees Saturday and staying near 90 degrees Sunday. These readings are 20 to 30 degrees above normal and may approach or break daily records.

Cities including Tulsa, Bartlesville, Muskogee, and McAlester will see the hottest conditions during the afternoon hours, with dry air and breezy winds contributing to elevated fire risk. By Sunday afternoon, a cold front will move into the region, shifting winds to the north at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

The greatest fire danger is expected Sunday afternoon into the evening, especially along and west of a line from Okfuskee County to Craig County, where grassland fire spread rates could reach critical levels.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, and monitor for rapidly changing conditions. Fire weather concerns will remain elevated through Sunday, with additional advisories likely as the фронт moves through.
