Tulsa, Oklahoma – 80% rain chances are expected to disrupt travel by Wednesday, as a strong system brings widespread showers and thunderstorms across eastern Oklahoma.

Dry and warmer conditions will hold through the weekend and into early Tuesday, allowing for normal travel and outdoor activity across Tulsa, Bartlesville, Muskogee, and McAlester. High pressure will keep skies mostly clear, with temperatures gradually warming ahead of the next system.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a cold front will move through the region by midweek, triggering widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms beginning late Tuesday and intensifying through Wednesday. Rain chances will climb to 70% to 80% across much of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, including Fort Smith and Fayetteville.

The incoming system will bring cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and periods of steady rainfall that could reduce visibility and create slick road conditions along major corridors such as I-44, U.S. 75, and the Creek Turnpike. Localized ponding on roadways is possible during heavier downpours.

Residents should prepare for changing conditions by midweek, allowing extra travel time and securing outdoor items ahead of gusty winds. Commuters should be especially cautious during periods of heavier rain on Wednesday.

Rain chances will continue through late week with cooler, unsettled conditions lingering into Friday. Additional advisories may be issued as the system approaches and timing becomes more precise.
