Tulsa, Oklahoma – Drivers, outdoor workers, and families in eastern Oklahoma should brace for scorching heat Thursday with a chance of storms rolling in by the weekend. A summer weather alert is in effect as heat index values could reach 105° in the Tulsa metro by mid-afternoon Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, sunny skies and south winds near 10 mph will push temperatures to 95°F on Thursday, with mostly clear conditions Thursday night and a low of 77°F. The heat remains relentless Friday, with a high of 94°F and gusts near 20 mph — but by late Friday night, conditions shift fast.

A 40% chance of thunderstorms develops after 1 a.m. Friday night, with the risk extending into Saturday. Saturday’s high will drop slightly to 89°F, but the air remains unstable, keeping rain chances steady through the weekend and into Monday.

Residents along I-44 and in areas like Broken Arrow, Owasso, and Bixby should prepare for reduced visibility and localized street flooding if storms become intense. Keep phones charged, avoid outdoor work in peak heat, and monitor weather alerts.

Rain chances stay between 30–40% each day through Monday, July 15, with highs holding in the upper 80s to low 90s. South winds remain light, but humidity will remain high, prolonging discomfort and keeping the risk of heat-related illness elevated.

Warnings and advisories remain possible this weekend as summer heat and storms continue to alternate. Stay tuned to local alerts.
