Oklahoma City, OK – Residents in Oklahoma City will face a surge of dangerous heat Tuesday as the work week continues. Temperatures are set to climb to 93°F, but stifling humidity will make it feel closer to 102°F during the afternoon. Strong southerly winds will offer little relief, gusting as high as 26 mph and creating challenging conditions for anyone outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service, the combination of high heat and humidity will create a significant health risk. Officials advise residents to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and limit strenuous outdoor activities, especially during peak afternoon hours. The elevated heat index is expected to be the most pressing weather concern until a pattern shift arrives mid-week.

The sweltering conditions will begin to ease slightly by Wednesday, which will be mostly sunny with a high of 91°F. However, the heat gives way to a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. That risk increases to 30% Wednesday night, mainly before 4 a.m.

Holiday plans for Juneteenth on Thursday may be affected by continued unsettled weather. The day brings more chances for thunderstorms and showers with a high temperature of 93°F. Skies are expected to clear out Thursday night, leading into a hot and sunny weekend.

Friday and Saturday will see a return to bright, clear skies with afternoon highs reaching 94°F and 93°F, respectively. The sunny pattern is expected to hold through Sunday, with temperatures remaining in the low 90s, concluding a week of dynamic weather changes.
