Oklahoma City, Okla. – More than 50 counties across Oklahoma — including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Norman — are under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. CDT Monday as a volatile storm system moves through the region.
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 292 was issued just after noon and includes major population centers and rural areas across central, eastern, and southeastern Oklahoma. Forecasters warn of the potential for multiple tornadoes, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and large hail.
The watch spans from Osage and Tulsa counties in the northeast to Bryan and Choctaw counties near the Texas border. Oklahoma County, which includes OKC, is squarely in the risk zone. Residents in Norman, Muskogee, McAlester, and Ada should be especially alert through the evening hours.
Outdoor activities should be suspended, and emergency kits kept nearby. If tornado warnings are issued, seek shelter in a basement or interior room away from windows. Mobile home residents should identify safer structures now.
