Residents in central Oklahoma, specifically in northern Lincoln County, are under a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado and hail up to one inch in diameter is currently moving northeast at 50 mph. Immediate shelter is advised for all affected areas, especially those near I-44, which may face significant impacts.
According to NWS, the warning extends until 3 a.m. CST, and areas in the storm’s path include Wellston, Chandler, Carney, Tryon, and Warwick. Radar data detected rotation near Wellston at 2:24 a.m., indicating a high risk of tornado development. Those in mobile homes, vehicles, or outside should move to a storm shelter or the lowest floor of a sturdy building to avoid flying debris.
