Tulsa, Oklahoma – Damaging winds and large hail could hit parts of eastern and central Oklahoma before 10 a.m. Saturday, as a powerful line of thunderstorms moves through the region.
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for central and eastern Oklahoma and extends into far western Arkansas. The greatest threats include wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter.
A cluster of storms moving out of south-central Kansas is tracking southeast, targeting communities including Tulsa, McAlester, and Ponca City. These storms may organize into a bowing segment, increasing the risk of wind damage along highways like I-44 and U.S. 69.
Residents are urged to stay indoors, avoid travel if possible, and secure outdoor objects that could become projectiles. Elevated supercells embedded within the system could also bring short bursts of intense hail.
This is the second severe weather watch issued in the region overnight, with conditions remaining volatile into the morning hours. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as storms intensify.
