Oklahoma City, OK – Severe storms are sweeping across Oklahoma, North Texas, and western Arkansas early Tuesday, bringing 70 mph wind gusts, 2.5-inch hail, and the potential for isolated tornadoes before 5 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 5 a.m. CDT for southern and eastern Oklahoma, north-central Texas, and parts of far western Arkansas. Thunderstorm activity is expected to intensify and spread overnight, with the strongest storms capable of producing significant hail and damaging straight-line winds.

Communities from Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the Dallas–Fort Worth area could see severe impacts, especially along highways like I-35 and U.S. Route 69. In Oklahoma, cities such as McAlester, Ardmore, and Ada should prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Power outages and downed trees are possible if storms evolve into a bowing line segment.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, stay indoors, and keep weather radios or alerts active through sunrise. If you’re in a mobile home or traveling overnight, know where to seek shelter quickly.

This watch follows earlier severe activity Monday. Additional watches or warnings may be issued if storms persist or strengthen. Stay alert for updates through early morning.
