Oklahoma City, Okla. – Much of Oklahoma faces another round of dangerous heat this weekend, with heat index values climbing as high as 110 degrees through Sunday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a heat advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday and will resume from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Affected areas span from northwest counties like Woods and Alfalfa to southern regions including Bryan, Love, and Atoka. Cities such as Enid, Ada, Lawton, Oklahoma City, and Durant are all within the advisory zone.
Residents in northern Texas counties, including Wichita and Wilbarger, are also under a Sunday heat advisory. The combination of high humidity and triple-digit temperatures could lead to heat-related illnesses if precautions aren’t taken.
Authorities urge Oklahomans to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat, wear light clothing, and stay hydrated. Vulnerable groups, including the elderly and young children, should be monitored closely. Cooling centers may be available in some communities.
This heat wave follows a string of mid-July advisories and is expected to continue into early next week. Additional alerts may be issued if conditions worsen.
