Tulsa, OK – Strong winds and low humidity will continue to create dangerous fire conditions across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through Tuesday, increasing wildfire risks as spring begins this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect Monday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., impacting Washington, Nowata, Craig, Ottawa, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Delaware, Okmulgee, and Wagoner counties. Winds will reach 25 to 40 mph, with humidity levels dropping as low as 15%. Fire danger remains high Tuesday as dry conditions persist.
Authorities urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and any activities that could spark fires, such as using grills or power tools near dry grass. Any fires that ignite could spread quickly due to strong winds.
Tuesday’s Forecast and Midweek Outlook
Tuesday will see highs near 79°F, with breezy conditions continuing. Winds will shift from the south to the northwest by nightfall, gradually decreasing in intensity.
By Wednesday, temperatures drop slightly to 51°F, with continued gusty winds. No significant rainfall is expected, keeping fire risks elevated.
Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday bring more seasonable weather with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s. A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns by Saturday, offering some relief from dry conditions.
Residents should monitor local weather updates and follow fire safety guidelines to reduce wildfire risks.
