Tulsa, OK – Residents across northeastern Oklahoma should prepare for severe thunderstorms early this morning, with the greatest threat between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
Forecasters report that storms moving through the region may produce wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph, frequent lightning, and hail up to the size of quarters. The tornado threat remains limited, but a few stronger cells could cause localized damage.
Areas most at risk during this time include Bartlesville, Tulsa, Claremore, and Muskogee, with storms expected to track eastward into northwest Arkansas by mid-morning.
Residents are urged to stay indoors, avoid windows during lightning, and keep phones charged for weather alerts. The NWS advises having multiple ways to receive warnings, as storms may intensify quickly overnight.
Conditions are expected to improve by late morning, though another round of storms is possible later in the day.
