Oklahoma: Prepare for Extreme Heat Friday: Indices Expected to Exceed 110°F

Tulsa, OK – Dangerous heat will return to Tulsa on Friday, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue an Excessive Heat Watch for portions of the area.

According to the NWS Tulsa, the watch is in effect from 12 PM to 9 PM on Friday, with heat indices expected to reach up to 112°F. The affected areas include Tulsa, Bartlesville, Okmulgee, and Muskogee. Residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

The forecast predicts that Friday will see the highest temperatures, with the mercury hitting 101°F. This extreme heat is part of a broader heatwave affecting the region, with temperatures remaining high into the weekend and early next week. On Thursday, temperatures are expected to reach 93°F, while Saturday and Sunday will also see highs around 101°F and 90°F, respectively. The heatwave is anticipated to continue with temperatures staying above 100°F into next week, peaking at 101°F on Monday and Wednesday.
