Norman, OK – The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Freeze Watch covering most of Oklahoma and parts of North Texas from Sunday evening through Monday morning, marking the coldest temperatures of the season so far.
According to forecasters, subfreezing temperatures are expected across the region, with lows dropping into the lower 20s in northern Oklahoma and the upper 20s farther south into North Texas. The chill will affect communities including Oklahoma City, Enid, Lawton, Ardmore, Stillwater, Durant, Wichita Falls, and Vernon.
The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, damage sensitive vegetation, and harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, wrap exposed pipes, and allow faucets to drip to prevent freezing.
Meteorologists say this will likely end the growing season across much of the region. Clear skies and calm winds overnight will allow temperatures to fall sharply by early Monday morning.
Warmer weather is expected to return by midweek, but forecasters caution that additional cold snaps are possible later in November.
