Tulsa, Oklahoma – Drivers across eastern Oklahoma and parts of northwest Arkansas could face sudden drops in visibility this morning as patchy fog blankets the region through 9 a.m. Wednesday. The highest risk lies southeast of I-44, where visibility may drop below half a mile during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a medium probability (40–70%) of dense fog exists across much of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas, including areas near Tulsa, McAlester, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville. Recent rainfall has primed conditions for rapid fog development, especially in low-lying or rural areas.

The fog threat window stretches from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m., with favored fog zones both southeast and northwest of I-44. Local agencies advise motorists to slow down, use low beam headlights, and leave extra following distance. Sudden changes in visibility may occur within short distances, particularly near highways and open fields.

This morning’s fog may lift by mid-morning, but drivers should remain cautious during school drop-offs and work commutes. Additional advisories could be issued if conditions worsen.
