Tulsa, Okla. – Residents across Tulsa and much of Green Country are bracing for another stretch of dangerous summer heat this weekend, with heat index values soaring into the triple digits through early next week. Afternoon highs will approach 97 to 99 degrees, but the humidity could make it feel as hot as 106 by Saturday and Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Heat Advisory remains in effect through the weekend as south winds hold around 5 to 10 mph with little relief overnight. Lows will only dip into the upper 70s, keeping conditions warm and uncomfortable for those without air conditioning.
The most intense heat will affect Tulsa, Broken Arrow, and Owasso, but surrounding areas across eastern Oklahoma will see similar conditions. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets. Cooling shelters remain open across the metro.
Relief may come Tuesday into Wednesday when scattered thunderstorms are expected to return. Rain chances are around 30 percent, with storms potentially breaking the heat for parts of eastern Oklahoma by midweek.
Dangerous heat remains the main threat through at least Monday, with additional advisories possible if high humidity persists.
