Tulsa, OK – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for southern Latimer, southern Le Flore, and northeastern Pushmataha counties in southeastern Oklahoma due to severe thunderstorms bringing heavy rainfall. The warning is in effect until 10:15 PM CDT tonight, April 4, 2025.
At 5:13 PM CDT, radar detected thunderstorms producing between 1 and 2 inches of rain in the warned area. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to start shortly. Areas affected include Clayton, Talihina, Albion, and Talimena State Park, among others.
Flash flooding is especially dangerous in low-lying areas, poor drainage zones, and on highways, streets, and underpasses. Local authorities urge residents to avoid driving through flooded roads. According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, flash floods often lead to vehicle-related fatalities.
The public is advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions, including turning around when encountering flooded roads.
