Tulsa, OK – An excessive heat warning is in effect for much of northeastern Oklahoma until noon Friday, as temperatures are forecast to reach dangerous levels. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), heat indices are expected to soar between 110-114 degrees, posing significant health risks.

The warning coincides with high wind conditions expected throughout the morning and early afternoon, with wind speeds forecasted to reach up to 20 mph. The heat is anticipated to persist into the weekend, with temperatures expected to hit 100 degrees on Saturday.

On Friday, the high temperature is expected to reach 99 degrees, accompanied by windy conditions. The NWS advises residents to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. The extreme heat will continue into Saturday, with temperatures forecasted to reach 100 degrees. The weather will be mostly sunny with light winds, continuing the trend of hot and dry conditions.

Sunday offers a slight respite with a 50% chance of thunderstorms and temperatures dropping to a high of 92 degrees. However, the heat returns early next week, with Monday’s high expected to reach 98 degrees, Tuesday hitting 101 degrees, and Wednesday bringing another scorcher at 97 degrees.

According to the NWS, residents should remain vigilant and follow all recommended precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. This includes staying indoors during peak heat hours, wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing, and drinking plenty of water. Emergency services are on alert, ready to assist anyone suffering from heat-related conditions.
