Oklahoma City, Okla. – Oklahoma City residents will battle dangerous heat this week, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and heat index values pushing as high as 102 through Saturday. The hottest stretch is expected late this week, with sunny skies masking the potential for heat-related health risks.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, highs will reach 94 on Wednesday and 95 on Saturday, with humidity pushing the “feels-like” temperatures into the triple digits. Winds will stay light from the northeast at 3 to 8 mph, offering little relief.

Cities across central Oklahoma, including Edmond, Norman, and Midwest City, will all see near-identical conditions. Outdoor workers and athletes are urged to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid peak afternoon sun. Emergency managers recommend checking on elderly neighbors and limiting strenuous outdoor activities.

Friday night will stay warm with lows in the lower 70s, keeping overnight cooling limited. Slight relief could arrive late Sunday as cloud cover builds and storm chances increase, bringing a 40–50% chance of showers and thunderstorms into early next week.

Heat advisories may be issued if conditions worsen, with the risk of heat illness lingering through Saturday.
