Oklahoma City, OK – Strong thunderstorms are expected overnight Sunday into early Monday, bringing brief downpours and lightning before a multi-day stretch of dangerous heat builds across central Oklahoma. By midweek, temperatures in Oklahoma City could soar near 100°F, with little relief overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, scattered storms will continue through 4 a.m. Monday with a 60% chance of rainfall. Accumulations could reach a quarter inch, but isolated pockets may see more with embedded thunderstorms. After the storms move out, temperatures will begin climbing steadily, topping 97°F by Thursday and pushing close to 100°F by Friday and Saturday.

Residents should prepare for increasing heat stress through the week. Limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, ensure pets and vulnerable populations stay cool, and monitor updates as heat advisories may be issued by midweek.
