TULSA, OK – A stretch of unsettled weather is set to impact Oklahoma starting Sunday, March 2, with thunderstorms, high winds, and fire risks extending into midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, Sunday night will bring isolated thunderstorms across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Gusty south winds up to 25 mph will accompany the storms. While severe weather is not expected initially, an approaching storm system on Tuesday could bring stronger thunderstorms with heavy rain and damaging winds.
Monday will see partly sunny skies with highs near 57°F, but rain and thunderstorms will develop late Monday night into Tuesday. By Tuesday afternoon, wind gusts could reach 30 mph, increasing fire concerns behind the storms, particularly in areas with dry vegetation.
Wednesday will bring cooler, breezy conditions, with highs around 57°F and northwest winds up to 25 mph. By Thursday, sunshine returns, with highs near 68°F, providing a brief break from stormy conditions.
Residents should prepare for changing weather by securing loose outdoor items and staying updated on local forecasts. Drivers should also be cautious of wet roads on Monday night and Tuesday, particularly on I-44 and other major highways.
