Tulsa, OK – Eastern Oklahoma is bracing for potentially severe weather starting tonight, as multiple rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected to impact the region through Tuesday. Forecasters are warning residents to prepare for possible flash flooding and travel disruptions, especially along I-44, I-35, and I-244.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, rain will intensify over the weekend, with total precipitation amounts possibly reaching between 3 to 8 inches across the area. Locally higher rainfall could exceed 10 inches in some parts, especially near Tulsa and surrounding communities. The heaviest rainfall is expected late Sunday night through Monday, posing a heightened risk of flash floods in low-lying areas.

The weather service has also noted that strong winds may accompany the thunderstorms, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph at times. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, particularly on highways that are prone to flooding. Officials advise against driving through standing water, as even shallow floodwaters can quickly become dangerous.

Saturday and Sunday nights are forecasted to bring the most intense rain and storm activity, with a 100% chance of rain both nights. Storms are likely to persist into Monday, diminishing by Tuesday when mostly sunny skies are expected.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather reports for updates and be prepared for possible emergency alerts. Those living in flood-prone areas should have a plan in place in case evacuation becomes necessary.

For continued updates, check the National Weather Service or local advisories to stay safe during this period of severe weather.
