Tulsa, Oklahoma – Severe storms could rattle eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Saturday evening, bringing the risk of large hail and damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the threat window opens late Saturday afternoon and could persist into the night. The highest risk zone stretches from McAlester and Henryetta eastward through Fort Smith, Fayetteville, and Greenwood. Hail up to 2 inches in diameter is possible, along with strong wind gusts capable of downing trees and power lines.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the region under a “slight risk” (Level 2 of 5), indicating scattered severe storms are likely. Tulsa sits on the western edge of the risk zone, while cities like Tahlequah, Ozark, and Poteau are firmly within the area of concern.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware throughout the day, secure outdoor items, and avoid travel during peak storm hours. Keep phones charged and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Storms may continue through late evening, with additional updates expected Saturday morning. Visit weather.gov/Tulsa for the latest alerts and safety guidance.
