Oklahoma – A gray, misty start blankets Tulsa this morning as fog hangs low over city streets and headlights glow through the haze. Damp pavement and light drizzle greet early commuters while warmer March air begins building across eastern Oklahoma.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, scattered showers may develop through the afternoon with temperatures climbing toward 70 degrees. South winds increase through the day, occasionally gusting near 20 mph, adding a mild spring feel to the air.

Conditions grow more unsettled later today and into the evening. Meteorologists say a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms develops after sunset across the Tulsa metro and nearby communities including Broken Arrow, Owasso, and Sapulpa.

The more significant weather arrives Friday. Storm coverage increases through the afternoon as a cold front pushes toward eastern Oklahoma. The Storm Prediction Center highlights a limited risk for severe weather, meaning a few storms could produce large hail and locally damaging wind gusts.

Drivers traveling along Interstate 44, U.S. 75, and Highway 169 should prepare for sudden downpours and lightning during stronger storms Friday afternoon and evening. Visibility could drop quickly when storms intensify.

Rain chances linger into Friday night before cooler, drier air arrives for the weekend. Saturday looks noticeably calmer with sunshine returning and temperatures near 60 degrees. Clear skies continue Sunday with highs close to 69 degrees.

Early Sunday morning also brings a seasonal shift. Clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. across Oklahoma as Daylight Saving Time begins, giving the region longer evenings through the month of March.

Looking ahead, mild spring air returns early next week with highs climbing into the upper 70s by Monday. Additional showers and thunderstorms may redevelop by midweek as active spring weather continues across the Plains.
