Tulsa, Oklahoma – A significant round of severe weather is expected to impact eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas late Sunday, with the potential for damaging wind gusts up to 75 mph and hail as large as 2.5 inches.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the severe weather window opens Sunday afternoon and continues into the overnight hours. Affected areas include Tulsa, Muskogee, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, McAlester, and Hugo. The tornado threat remains low but cannot be ruled out.
The Storm Prediction Center highlights a 20–30% chance of a severe weather warning across the region, with Fayetteville showing the highest probability. The combination of intense winds and large hail poses a risk to trees, vehicles, and power lines. Road travel along I-40, I-44, and US-69 could be dangerous during evening and nighttime hours.
