Tulsa, OK – A Freeze Watch has been issued for much of Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, as cold air moves into the region late Saturday night through Sunday morning, November 2, bringing the potential for sub-freezing temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s.
According to the National Weather Service offices in Tulsa and Norman, temperatures could fall as low as 28 to 29 degrees, marking the first widespread freeze of the season. The watch includes a broad area from Tulsa, Stillwater, and McAlester to Fayetteville, Bentonville, and Muskogee.
Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover outdoor plants, drain sprinkler systems, and wrap exposed pipes ahead of the cold spell.
The chill will arrive behind a passing cold front, ushering in a clear, calm, and frosty Sunday morning across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Temperatures will gradually warm later in the day, but the freeze will signal the official end of the growing season for many locations.
