Tulsa, OK – Hot and humid conditions are expected again today, with parts of northeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas seeing afternoon heat index values above 110 degrees. Most of the rest of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas can expect heat index values above 105 degrees.
According to the US National Weather Service in Tulsa, an excessive heat warning has been issued for parts of northeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas from noon to 9 PM today, where conditions support a quicker onset of heat illness. A heat advisory is in effect for the same time frame for the rest of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
The weather service warns that dangerously hot conditions, with heat index values up to 112 degrees, will impact Muskogee, Mayes, Okmulgee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner, and McIntosh Counties. The combination of high temperatures and humidity will create a dangerous situation, making heat-related illnesses more likely.
Residents are urged to take appropriate heat precautions, especially when working or enjoying outdoor activities. The weather forecast for Tulsa shows high temperatures continuing throughout the week, with Friday and Sunday seeing highs around 99 degrees, and Monday and Tuesday expected to reach 100 and 102 degrees, respectively.
