Tulsa, Oklahoma – Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop along the Oklahoma-Arkansas border between 1 and 7 p.m. Monday, bringing lightning, heavy downpours, and gusty winds to portions of southeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, areas such as Hugo, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville carry the highest chance for storm activity this afternoon. While the probability is low (10–20%), any storms that do form could produce brief but intense rainfall and dangerous lightning.

The threat is compounded by oppressive heat. Heat indices will climb as high as 104°F today in Fort Smith and 103°F in Tulsa, pushing the region into potentially hazardous conditions for outdoor activity. Bartlesville, McAlester, and Muskogee are all expected to feel like 98–100°F through much of the week.

Residents are urged to take frequent cooling breaks, wear light-colored clothing, and stay hydrated. If storms develop, seek shelter indoors and avoid travel in areas where downpours could reduce visibility or flood roadways.

Hot and humid conditions are forecast to persist through the weekend, with higher storm coverage possible Tuesday and Wednesday.
