Tulsa, OK – The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Freeze Watch for all of eastern Oklahoma and parts of northwest and west-central Arkansas, warning of a hard freeze expected late Sunday through early Monday morning.

Forecasters say temperatures could fall as low as 20°F, bringing the coldest air of the season so far to the region. The watch area includes major cities such as Tulsa, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, McAlester, and Muskogee, along with surrounding rural counties.

The watch remains in effect from Sunday evening through Monday morning, and the weather service cautions that the cold could kill plants, damage sensitive vegetation, and cause unprotected plumbing to freeze or burst.

Residents are urged to wrap outdoor pipes, cover tender plants, and bring pets indoors ahead of the cold front’s arrival. Motorists should also prepare for potential frost on windshields during the Monday morning commute.

This marks the first widespread hard freeze of the fall season across the Arkansas–Oklahoma border region.
