Tulsa, Okla. – Heavy rain and repeated thunderstorms could trigger flash flooding overnight across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with the National Weather Service issuing a Flood Watch through 8 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the NWS Tulsa office, 2 to 4 inches of additional rainfall is expected through the night as multiple storm rounds track across the region. The Flood Watch covers cities from Muskogee and McAlester to Fayetteville and Fort Smith, where low-lying areas and urban streets could quickly fill with water.

Communities in Pittsburg, Pushmataha, and Wagoner counties may see rising creeks and swamped roadways, especially near poorly drained intersections and rural bridges. In Arkansas, flash flooding could hit areas like Bentonville, Rogers, and Van Buren by early Tuesday. Emergency managers advise drivers to avoid high water and stick to main roads.

Residents should prepare now—charge phones, secure outdoor gear, and monitor local alerts. Flood-prone neighborhoods, especially near rivers and streams, could see rapid water rise with little warning.

Flood Watches remain in effect until Tuesday morning, but additional warnings may be issued if rainfall rates intensify overnight. Check local alerts before your morning commute.
