Tulsa, OK – Residents across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas can expect unseasonably warm conditions to continue through much of the upcoming week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tulsa.

Forecast models show daily highs reaching the upper 80s to near 90 degrees across cities including Tulsa, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Bartlesville, and McAlester. These values are well above normal for early October, which typically sees highs in the mid-70s.

According to the NWS, overnight lows will remain mild, generally in the low to mid-60s, offering little relief from the daytime heat. Meteorologists noted that while the warmth will dominate the weekend, slight chances for rain and thunderstorms could arrive early next week.

The highest chances for precipitation appear Monday and Tuesday, with a 15 to 20 percent chance of showers in Fayetteville, Rogers, and Ozark. Tulsa and surrounding communities will see slightly lower odds, with 10 to 15 percent rain chances midweek.

Forecasters emphasized that the rain outlook remains low overall, with most areas staying dry. Any showers that do develop are expected to be brief and scattered, limiting their impact.

The NWS noted that while the current forecast does not include significant severe weather threats, residents should stay alert for any forecast updates, especially with October known as a transitional weather month in the region.
