Cleveland, OH – Colder weather is moving into northeast Ohio, bringing the season’s first measurable snow by late Thursday night. The National Weather Service predicts accumulations of up to 2 inches across parts of central Ohio, particularly near I-90. Rain and gusty winds will precede the snow on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially causing slick road conditions by Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will develop Wednesday afternoon as a cold front moves through. Winds could reach 40 mph, with gusts exceeding 50 mph in some areas. Drivers should use caution, especially during evening commutes along major roadways like I-90 and I-71.

By Thursday night, temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s, transitioning rain to snow. Areas north of Columbus and along Lake Erie have the highest chance of snow accumulation. Snowfall is likely to taper off by Friday morning, but wet roads may refreeze, causing hazardous travel conditions.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring continued showers and breezy conditions, with highs near 48°F. The weekend remains chilly, with Saturday also seeing additional showers. Residents are encouraged to prepare now by winterizing vehicles, checking tire tread, and stocking up on essentials.
