Wilmington, OH – Despite recent rainfall from Tropical System Helene, dry conditions will dominate this weekend and extend well into next week. Wilmington and surrounding areas face a continued drought with no rain in the forecast. Temperatures will peak near 78 degrees on Friday, providing sunny skies but little hope for drought relief.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, Wilmington remains in a moderate drought, and conditions may worsen without significant rainfall in the next seven to ten days. Fire hazards increase, especially near roads like I-71 and Route 68, due to the lack of moisture and dry vegetation. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant, avoiding open burning, and reporting any signs of fire immediately.

Friday will bring highs in the upper 70s, while temperatures dip to the low 50s tonight. The weekend forecast includes highs of 77 degrees on Saturday and a slightly warmer Sunday, with highs expected to reach 82. Winds will shift to the east at 6 to 8 mph on Saturday, becoming more southern by Sunday, bringing some breeze but no precipitation.

Looking into next week, expect temperatures to cool slightly, with Monday’s high near 67 and Tuesday’s dropping to 68. Despite the cooler weather, no significant rain is expected through mid-October, leaving Wilmington’s drought to persist. Residents should conserve water and prepare for potential further fire risks.
