Cincinnati, Ohio – Drivers across the Tri-State need to prepare now as snow and a light glaze of ice begin freezing roads by 3 a.m. Monday, threatening the morning commute on major corridors including I-71, I-75 and I-275.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday for southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky and south central and southwest Ohio. Forecasters expect 1 to 2 inches of snow, with isolated higher totals, along with a light ice accumulation that could coat bridges and overpasses.

Across southwest Ohio, Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties face the highest risk for slick elevated roadways. Downtown Cincinnati, Mason, Lebanon and Milford could see snow-covered secondary roads before sunrise. In northern Kentucky, Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties — including Florence, Covington and Newport — may experience icy patches that reduce traction during peak travel hours. Southeast Indiana communities such as Lawrenceburg, Batesville and Vevay are also under the advisory.

Transportation officials urge drivers to slow down and check conditions at ohgo.com, goky.ky.gov or 511in.org before leaving home. Allow extra travel time and avoid sudden braking.

Conditions should gradually improve after 11 a.m., but additional advisories could be issued if ice lingers into midday.
