Cleveland, OH – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect through Tuesday morning, with northeast Ohio expecting heavy snowfalls up to 14 inches. Snow will begin intensifying late Sunday and persist through Monday, impacting areas from Lake to Ashtabula counties, including major roadways like I-90.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall rates could reach up to two inches per hour in the most intense bands. The heaviest accumulations are forecast for northern areas, tapering to just a few inches south of the Ohio Turnpike. Hazardous travel conditions, including whiteouts and icy roads, could disrupt Monday’s morning and evening commutes. Motorists are urged to delay unnecessary travel and monitor conditions on OHGO.com.

Looking ahead, conditions will remain challenging into early Tuesday. Snow totals across northeast Ohio could exceed 20 inches in isolated spots near Lake Erie. By midweek, snowfall is expected to diminish, but temperatures will stay below freezing, creating risks of icy roadways.

In Erie, Pennsylvania, additional snow accumulations of up to 22 inches are forecast, especially north of I-90. Travel conditions are expected to be equally dangerous, with visibility dropping to under a quarter-mile at times.

Officials advise keeping emergency supplies, such as flashlights, food, and water, in your vehicle. Check for updates on closures and road conditions on 511PA.com or OHGO.com.

Prepare now for treacherous roads through Tuesday morning, and expect slow-moving traffic across major highways and secondary roads.
