Dayton, OH – A wind advisory remains in effect across southwest and central Ohio, with gusts reaching up to 50 MPH expected through 8 p.m. Monday. Residents in Dayton, Cincinnati, and surrounding communities are urged to secure outdoor items and prepare for possible tree damage or power outages.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service Wilmington Office, the advisory was issued just after 12:30 p.m. Monday and applies to much of western and central Ohio. Counties under advisory include Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, and Clinton. Strong winds are forecast throughout the region, even outside advisory zones, with the greatest risk expected in west-central Ohio.
Forecasters warn that unsecured objects could be blown around, and tree limbs may break due to the gusty conditions. Minor power outages have already been reported in some areas. Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to use caution on open roads, especially along I-70 and I-75 corridors.
Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning, stay indoors during peak wind periods, and keep mobile phones charged in case of outages. This level of wind is not uncommon in March, but its intensity remains dangerous.
The advisory is set to expire at 8 p.m. unless extended by the National Weather Service.
