Cleveland, OH – A wind advisory remains in effect for much of northern Ohio through Sunday, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph in some areas, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland.

The advisory affects multiple counties, including Summit, Portage, Trumbull, Wayne, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Erie, Lorain, and Medina. According to the NWS, winds from the south will range between 15 to 30 mph, with the strongest gusts expected overnight and into Sunday morning. Some areas, particularly in northwest and northeast Ohio, will see gusts near 50 mph.

The high winds could lead to scattered power outages, downed tree limbs, and difficult driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles. The NWS also noted that there would be a temporary lull in wind speeds between 7 p.m. and midnight before gusts intensify again overnight.

In Cleveland, the advisory will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Sunday, while in Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties, the alert extends until 2 p.m. In the Toledo area and other parts of northwest Ohio, the advisory will remain active until 8 a.m. Sunday.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects and use caution while driving. Strong winds could impact travel, particularly on elevated roadways and bridges. The NWS recommends staying updated on local weather conditions and preparing for potential power disruptions.
