Wheeling, WV – A Wheeling man was arrested Thursday after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop that began in Belmont County, Ohio, and ended across state lines in West Virginia, according to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the county’s Criminal Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a vehicle near State Route 7 and the I-470 bridge on October 23, 2025, for a traffic violation. According to officials, the driver did not comply and fled a short distance before stopping on the I-470 offramp to State Route 2 eastbound in Wheeling.

During the stop, deputies reportedly saw suspected drugs in plain view. A subsequent search led to the seizure of approximately one ounce of suspected narcotics.

Authorities identified the driver as Dominic Brock, 24, of Wheeling, who was taken into custody by the Wheeling Police Department. Belmont County deputies said additional charges will be sought in Ohio related to the incident.

The Saint Clairsville and Wheeling Police Departments assisted in the stop. Sheriff James Zusack thanked all agencies involved, citing cross-jurisdictional cooperation as key to ensuring the arrest was made without incident.
