Wilmington, OH – Rain and stormy weather will sweep across southern Ohio this weekend, bringing potential travel delays along I-71 and I-75. Mild December temperatures will accompany the precipitation, which could impact post-Christmas plans.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin today, with an 80% chance of precipitation continuing overnight into Saturday. Highs on Saturday are expected to reach 61°F, but gusty winds up to 26 mph will create slick conditions on major roadways.

Showers will likely intensify by Saturday night, with new rainfall between 0.25 and 0.75 inches expected. Travelers should exercise caution and prepare for possible hydroplaning on highways and surface streets. Sunday will remain wet, with a 70% chance of rain and highs near 56°F.

The five-day forecast suggests cooler, drier conditions returning early next week. Monday will bring partly sunny skies and a high of 52°F, though scattered showers could return late Monday night. Rain remains possible through Tuesday, adding to the already saturated ground.

Clinton County residents and travelers are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and adjust travel plans as necessary. Avoid flooded areas, reduce speed on wet roads, and check local forecasts before heading out.
