COLUMBUS, Ohio – Warm fall sunshine will make a brief return to central Ohio before an active weather pattern brings showers and thunderstorms by the weekend. After a string of clear, crisp days, moisture and clouds are expected to build Friday, leading to a soggy, breezy Sunday across much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Thursday will stay sunny and mild, reaching the upper 60s with light winds. Friday begins calm, but clouds increase through the afternoon as a system approaches from the west. Scattered showers could develop late Friday night, mainly west of I-71, before spreading across Columbus and nearby counties Saturday evening.

Saturday will be the warmest day of the stretch, with highs near 82°F under partly sunny skies. Outdoor plans early in the day should stay dry, but residents are urged to secure decorations and prepare for changing weather late. Rain and isolated thunderstorms are likely after sunset, followed by widespread showers Sunday. Breezy winds could make driving along I-70 and I-270 tricky during heavier bursts of rain.

Rain chances will taper off Sunday night, with cooler, drier air returning to start next week. Early next week looks seasonably pleasant—perfect for leaf-viewing drives or last-minute fall festivals before Halloween’s chill arrives.
