Cincinnati, Ohio – Very humid air is set to blanket the Ohio River and Lake Erie drainage basins this weekend, fueling waves of scattered showers and storms through Monday morning. Roadways in southern Illinois and Indiana remain at risk for lingering high water, while northern Ohio and neighboring counties brace for additional rainfall and potential river impacts.

According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, a weak frontal boundary will focus most of the showers and storms over northern sections of the basin through 8 a.m. Monday, July 28. Scattered rain remains possible south of the Ohio River, adding to the moisture load. Recent precipitation has pushed some rivers in southern Illinois and Indiana above flood stage, but most rivers are forecast to remain within their banks.

Motorists across Cincinnati, Cleveland, and along I-70 and I-75 should expect wet roads, reduced visibility, and potential delays through the weekend. Emergency managers advise residents to avoid flooded roadways and monitor local alerts, especially near rivers known to rise quickly after heavy rain.

Residents in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia are urged to keep devices charged, clear storm drains, and remain weather-aware as more rounds of showers move in. The region is seeing rainfall totals similar to early summer averages, but pockets of heavier rain could spark localized flooding.

The humid, unsettled pattern will persist through Monday morning, with the next update expected from the Ohio River Forecast Center by 8 a.m. Further advisories are possible if conditions worsen.
